For Creative Writing, Write a Horror Story with a School Setting

Pas un Rêve

I'm alone. I can't see anyone or anything around me and the sickly yellow lights are making me nauseous. They rock back and forth, like a hypnotist's pendulum, swaying me to sleep.

Sleep. Dang, don't I miss that right now. I can't sleep just yet because right when I wake up, there may be a knife at the ready, waiting to cleave my face in two like Freddy Krueger's claws. My mind is filled with images of the sort and I find myself wondering about the other students. Whatever happened to them...I don't want to know…

I shove myself off of the grimy and rusted, dented locker I leaned on for rest, and stalk through the halls, sticking close to the lockers. I'm panting and feeling dizzy, but I keep moving, not wanting to be found. What I want to do is get out of here, but that's not happening anytime soon, now is it?

As I walk, I begin to miss the liveliness of my academy. A small, select-student, border school. We had just been able to come back to school since the pandemic lockdown, but it was clearly all ruined now.

Not even three days into life back at the academy, an immense and damaging snow storm swept through the city, leaving many without power, connection, and ways of escaping. Our school is one of the many places experiencing these problems. When the storm first hit, the power and internet was knocked out, but, luckily, the academy had a generator for power. Service was down and we couldn't get a hold of anyone, but I can guess that my parents have tried to contact me.

After a while, the school was snowed in. The staff and teachers tried their best to get us out, but it was no use. However, these were not the worst of our problems.

         Somehow, there was an intruder.

My thoughts are interrupted by a clang down the hallway. My head whips around me to see no one. The lights have stopped swaying overhead and everything down the hall is clear in the sickening light. With my eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets, I spot a glint off of an object. My eyes travel up to see the one who holds it, and I freeze in terror. They stand a few yards away, their piercing gaze imprinting in my mind. Their smile's as curved as a rusty hook. Their snow white clothes stained with a cherry-like color.

I take no more time in observing their character and I make a run for it. When I reach the end of the hall, I swiftly turn the corner and glance behind me. That crooked smile invades my sight and I scream for who knows what. I quickly open a door and shut it.

Glaring at the doorknob, I wait for it to move. I frantically but silently feel around the closet I trapped myself in for some type of weapon and my fingers graze over a hard handle. I fully cover it, but...What the crap is that? I feel around the supposed handle and it moves.

I freeze when the "handle" continues to shift and it wraps around my hand like another hand. I slowly force my head to look to the side and that piercing gaze and eerie smile widen at me. The teeth slowly separate and a low, guttural, and deranged chuckle sound from them. I catch another glint off of a sanguinary and serrated saw. I follow its movement right to the bridge of my nose.

I jolt awake, causing the grimy and rusted, dented locker to clatter. The sickly yellow lights have stopped swaying and I'm able to see a few yards away. Something glints out of the corner of my eye. I turn my head to the direction, but I'm met with a crooked smile and piercing eyes.

Creative Writing Stories

Students have created many interesting things so far in the Creative Writing.  They have created their own narratives as well as their own short stories. Some goals that I want them to have by the end of the year is to be able to realize the power that they have in their own writing skills.
